The Cardiac Surgery Department at Gulab Devi Teaching Hospital has grown from a small unit in the late 1980s into a modern, fully equipped heart surgery center serving patients from across Pakistan. With dedicated operation theatres, a specialized ICU and complete pre- and post-operative care, we ensure every patient receives safe, timely and advanced cardiac surgical treatment from experienced cardiac surgeons.
Our surgical team performs a wide range of life-saving heart procedures, including Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG), valve repairs and replacements, adult congenital heart defect surgeries, cardiac tumor removal, aortic surgeries, and other complex interventions. The department manages patients with coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, congenital heart defects, and other critical heart conditions requiring surgical treatment.
In 2024, we completed over 300 open-heart surgeries — many for deserving patients who depend entirely on donor support.
The department is equipped with advanced technology including Heart-Lung Machines, Intra-aortic Balloon Pumps, ventilators, cardiac monitors, portable X-ray machines, and specialized surgical equipment. This equipment allows our team to manage high-risk cases, support patients during surgery, and provide continuous monitoring and critical care afterwards.
