Introduction

The Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism in Gulab Devi Teaching Hospital/ AAMC was established in July 2023 under the kind supervision of Dr. Amna Riaz. It is a ten-bed department. The Endocrinology Department evolved in conjunction with advancements in Endocrinology and the growing needs for specialized care in Pakistan. The department is staffed with trained Endocrinologists and nurses and advanced facilities, ensuring patients receive high-quality care for their endocrine conditions. The department will be providing specialized patient care in the field of diabetes mellitus (Type 1, Type 2 and Gestational Diabetes Mellitus & MODY), obesity, thyroid & parathyroid disorders, pituitary disorders and growth disorders (short stature), adrenal disorder, hirsutism/polycystic ovary syndrome, precocious puberty and infertility (male/female). Apart from that, it will be a great platform and source for research work in diabetes & endocrine disorders. The Department of Endocrinology will provide opportunities for undergraduate students and postgraduate trainee doctors for learning Diabetes & Endocrine disorders.
