Introduction

The Gastroenterology Department was established in Feb 2022 as a specialized unit dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment and management of disorders related to the digestive system, liver, pancreas and biliary tract. Equipped with state of the art technology and a team of highly skilled gastroenterologists, endoscopists and support staff, the department provides comprehensive, patient-centered care for a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions.

The core functions of the department include:

DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES

  • Upper and Lower GI Endoscopy (Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy).
  • Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).
  • Endoscopic Ultrasound(EUS).
  • Capsule Endoscopy (for small bowel evaluation).
  • Liver Biopsy for Liver assessment.

LIVER DISEASE MANAGEMENT

  • Treatment of hepatitis B&C, Cirrhosis, MAFLD (Metabolic Associated Fatty Liver Disease).

MULTIDISCPLINARY APPROACH

  • Collaboration with Oncology, IR and surgical department for complex cases.

RESEARCH AND TRAINING

  • Conducting clinical trials and studies on GI diseases.
  • Exploring minimal invasive techniques and novel therapies.

THERAPEUTIC SERVICES

  • Variceal banding for Esophageal Varices.
  • Histroacryl(Glu) injection to Fundal varices.
  • Polypectomy.
  • Endoscopic Management of bleeding Ulcer by Thermal therapy, Hemoclips and OTC clips.
  • APC (Argon Plasma Coagulation) for Angiodysplasias, Angioectasias.
  • Luminal Stenting (Esophageal, duodenal and colonic) for Malignant and benign refractory strictures.
  • Stricture dilatation (peptic, corrosive and anastomotic) with the help of balloon /boogies.
  • Endoscopic Mucosal Resection and Submucosal Dissection(EMR/ESD).
  • POEM(Per Oral Endoscopic Myotomy) for Achalasia.
  • ERCP for choledocholithiasis, benign and malignant strictures of biliary tree.
  • ERP for pancreatic duct stricture and stones.
  • EUS guided Cystogastrostomy (for pancreatic psuedocyst) , FNA/FNB.
  • EUS guided Choledochoduodonostomy(CDS) Hepaticogastrostomy (HGS).
