World Asthma Day Awareness Walk Held at Gulab Devi Teaching Hospital to Promote Accessible Respiratory Care

On the occasion of World Asthma Day, Gulab Devi Teaching Hospital organized an Awareness Walk to highlight the growing global burden of asthma and reinforce the urgent need for accessible respiratory healthcare. The activity was aligned with this year’s World Asthma Day theme: “Access to anti-inflammatory inhalers for everyone with asthma – still an urgent need”, emphasizing the importance of timely diagnosis, preventive care, and uninterrupted access to essential asthma medications.

Asthma continues to affect more than 260 million people worldwide and contributes to over 450,000 deaths annually, many of which are preventable through early intervention and appropriate treatment. Limited access to inhaled therapies, particularly anti-inflammatory inhalers, remains a major public health challenge in many developing healthcare systems. Through this awareness initiative, Gulab Devi Teaching Hospital reaffirmed its commitment to promoting respiratory health awareness, improving asthma management, and encouraging equitable healthcare access for all patients.

The Awareness Walk brought together healthcare professionals, faculty members, medical students and hospital administration in a collective effort to advocate for better pulmonary care and strengthen public understanding of chronic respiratory diseases. The event reflected the institution’s continued dedication toward community engagement, preventive medicine, and patient-centred healthcare initiatives.

Gulab Devi Teaching Hospital continues to advance comprehensive pulmonary and asthma care through specialized clinical services, patient education programs, and evidence-based treatment strategies. The hospital remains committed to improving outcomes for individuals living with asthma and other chronic respiratory conditions through awareness, accessibility, and compassionate care.
